I began GreenActionNews in the Spring of 2013 out of my interest in environmental justice. I developed the website on the model described by Bill Moyer in Doing Democracy, so that the scope of the site is to broadly cover the work of grassroots activists, change agents and policy reformers. I established social media assets, logo, and tagline. In 2004, I created KentCountyStar as the first online-only news publication in the Grand Rapids, MI area, covering local public affairs and small business news. The original design looked a bit like The Drudge Report and was coded in HTML with the FrontPage editing software. I upgraded to using a template service that was set up for news organizations.
